Dumbledore bags a beard-guard fit for a wizard

When you have a 3ft-long beard, it must be tempting to tuck it into your belt.

But Sir Michael Gambon, who plays Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore, found a more wizardly way to protect his whiskers as he filmed the next Harry Potter movie last night.

He wore a special magic sack over the trail of grey hair as he waited between takes on Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince.

Under cover: Sir Michael Gambon

Sir Michael, 67, chatted with Daniel Radcliffe, 18, who plays Harry, while the crew set up shots in the Wiltshire village of Lacock. Even Sir Michael's stand-in and stunt-man – nicknamed Doubledore by the crew – wore a similar beard sheath to protect the prop.

Earlier this month, Harry Potter author J.K.Rowling shocked fans by revealing that her Dumbledore character was gay.
