She may have mastered the catwalk, but it seems that strolling along the pavement is more problematic for Elle Macpherson.

The supermodel narrowly avoided falling flat on her face as she tripped over a man's outstretched foot - and gave bystanders a glimpse of her underwear.

The 44-year-old model, who has her own lingerie line, flashed her black bra as her white shirt swung loose when she fell over the bystander on her way out of a fundraising gala dinner.

Although she regained her balance, while losing a few buttons, she knocked the bystander off his seat.

Miss Macpherson had attended the Figures of Speech event at the ICA in Victoria, London where Domestic Goddess Nigella Lawson was among guests.

Australian-born Elle, known as "The Body", has two children and has recently denied links to Vito Schnabel - the 21-year-old son of Oscar-nominated director Julian Schnabel.
