Bearded, bespectacled and baseball-capped Michael Moore came to fame here last year with Stupid White Men, his anti fatcat polemic.

Now he's back as David to Dubya's Goliath with a new rant, Dude, Where's My Country? (Allen Lane, £17.99), which he delivers with a cunning mix of humour and fury.

Nothing too complicated either: 'Why has our government gone to such absurd lengths to convince us our lives are in danger? The answer is nothing short of their feverish desire to rule the world, first by controlling us and then, in turn, getting us to support their efforts to dominate the rest of the planet...'

At other times he dispenses his top tips on the evils of granola and drugs, the benefits of the sun and Oprah for President. Hilarious!

Hugely popular as a performer too, Michael Moore does his bit for dudes.

Sun 9 Nov, 8.30pm, London Palladium, Argyll Street, W1 (020-7494 5056). £10. Signing, Mon 10 Nov, 5pm, Waterstone's, 203-206 Piccadilly, SW1 (020-7851 2400).
