Strutting around the streets of New York a fabulous pair of vertiginous heels can be a perilous sport - just ask Fergie.

The pop star took a rather embarrassing, not to mention painful, tumble as she left the Waverly Inn restaurant in the West Village last night after she lost her balance on her 5 inch peep-toe platforms.

Thankfully her burly security guard was on hand to catch her before she hit the pavement.

Perhaps Fergie can get some tips from another gang of high-heel aficionados - the Sex and the City girls. The singer recently recorded the theme song for the upcoming silver screen release.

The catchy pop track, titled Labels or Love, incorporates the show's classic instrumental theme at the beginning and end.
