While her outfits may be somewhat minimal, her make-up is always piled on in epic proportions.

But glamour model Jodie Marsh has taken the brave step of posing without her bright orange slap - and is virtually unrecognisable.

The 29-year-old looks remarkably sophisticated thanks to her decision to go au naturel as part of a Refuge charity campaign for victims of domestic violence.

Also prepared to ditch their trademark heavy cosmetics were former Big Brother contestants Jade Goody and twins Sam and Amanda Marchant.

However, despite her more fresh-faced look, Marsh says she is not about to consider scrapping the thick eye liner and layers of foundation.

The model, who is currently dating a 23-year-old barber from Essex, has even attacked her critics who claim she often looks more like a plastic Barbie doll when she hits the town: "Those people have too much time on their hands," she said.

"I think there are people who need to put on more make-up and then they might pull more men. I love people who wear as much make-up as drag queens. Pamela Anderson always has well made up eyes.

"People say 'look how orange she is' - I can't tell you how to use a sunbed and I don't use fake tan," she told New magazine.

Jade Goody, who stripped down for Haven Hospices charity says she couldn't cope without her make-up, claiming 'my face is my advertising'.

"I didn't think I was dependent on make-up until I saw these photos, now I feel sick. Chantelle Houghton gets it wrong. She's really sweet but she looks orange all the time.

Dismissing the idea of having more surgery, the 26-year-old reality television star said: "I was going to have a tummy tuck, but I realised there are people out there who look up to me for putting weight on then trying hard to lose it.

"It would be sticking two fingers up to them."

However, former Big Brother stars Sam and Amanda Marchant agreed that they had been guilty of overdoing their make-up in the past.

"Before we went on Big Brother I used to wear pink glittery eye-shadow, lots of eye-liner, pink cheeks and pink lips," said 19-year-old Sam. "Now I look back and can't believe I used to wear so much.

"Jodie Marsh is beautiful, but she would look better without so much make-up."
