Harrison Ford hails cancer survivor Michael Douglas at Morning Glory premiere
Hollywood star Harrison Ford has paid tribute to his friend Michael Douglas for beating throat cancer.
"I'm so glad to hear the news. I'm very happy for him because he's a great guy," Ford said at the UK premiere of Morning Glory in London's West End.
Oscar-winner Douglas, who was diagnosed with the disease last year, revealed in a US TV interview that the tumour is gone and he is "relieved".
In Roger Michell's drama about a fictional American breakfast show, Daybreak, 68-year-old Ford plays cranky anchorman Mike Pomeroy alongside Rachel McAdams as news producer Becky Fuller.
Becky has finally landed her dream job, taking the reins of the national news show in New York, but Mike is her biggest obstacle to her rise to the top.
"My character is an ass, but he's about to learn something, which Rachel's character teaches him," he explained.
"Every job is kind of the same - the character is to tell the story - but it's a good movie and I was happy to do it."
Covered up in a navy blue coat with diamante detail, McAdams, 32, praised her seasoned co-star.
"I do get starstruck with people like Harrison. I grew up loving his work - I definitely had butterflies when I was working with him, but he put me at ease," she admitted.
Morning Glory opens in cinemas on Friday January 21.
