Charlotte Church is expecting a second baby just nine months after giving birth to her first child.

The 22-year-old singer and her partner Gavin Henson said they were 'thrilled' at the news.

The couple, whose daughter Ruby was born in September, made an announcement on Miss Church's official website last night.

A statement said: 'The couple are thrilled, as are their immediate families.'

The singer, who is also a TV presenter, said that despite the pregnancy she would 'fulfil her commitment' to present her Channel 4  The Charlotte Church Show in July and August of this year.

She gave birth to her first child Ruby Megan Henson in a birthing pool at her mother's farmhouse home in St Bride's Major, South Wales.

Ruby, weighed 6lb 12oz and Henson, now 26, was said to have held her hand throughout the labour.

The couple said they named the little girl Ruby because it's 'precious like a gem'.

The singer, who had a reputation for binge drinking and partying, said that since the birth she has settled down and enjoyed staying in with her family.

She has even admitted she wants 'half a dozen' more children.

Miss Church, who has sold 10million albums worldwide, insists that her partying days are over and she prefers to stay in and cook romantic meals for her boyfriend and daughter.

Last month she fronted a Welsh Assembly campaign urging other mums to breastfeed.

She said: 'It's cheaper, it's clean, it's the right temperature and everybody knows mother's milk is best.

'It's definitely a skill and is a bit alien at the start, but it's such a completely natural process.'

She added: 'I think people don't like the look of it, so to speak. People are more selfish these days and keep their body to themselves.'

She has also revealed that Henson, who plays centre for the Welsh rugby team, is a very 'hands on' dad.

Speaking about her daughter Ruby she has said: 'She's a Daddy's girl through and though. Gavin's really good with her.'
