BBC Breakfast anchor Natasha Kaplinsky is to marry an investment banker after a whirlwind romance.

The speed of her announcement amazed colleagues, who were still puzzling over her relationship with dancer Brendan Cole.

The New Zealander, 28, was her partner on Strictly Come Dancing and there were rumours they had become close. But the friendship cooled and three months ago she began dating Justin Bower, 32, who works for UBS Warburg.

Kaplinsky, also 32, said: "I'm extremely excited and very happy. I have been given a beautiful ring, which I am now wearing. It's wonderful news."
