Joey Essex is doing "fine" following his split from Sam Faiers.

The 'Only Way Is Essex' co-stars called time on their four-month relationship last week amid reports the 20-year-old hunk had grown increasingly "possessive" of the blonde beauty.

However, Joey's cousin Chloe Sims - who also appears in the ITV2 reality show - explained the former couple still speak to each other "every day" and remain close friends.

She said: "He's definitely not possessive and he's absolutely fine. It was a mutual decision because they're both so busy.

"They're still friends and speak every day. I think they just felt it was the right thing to do."

Despite the split, Chloe thinks a reconciliation could be on the cards in the future, as Joey - who also enjoyed a brief flirtation with 'TOWIE' cast member Lucy Mecklenburgh during the second series of the show - isn't seeing any other girls.

Chloe added to new! magazine: "They make a lovely couple and it's a shame, but there's no bitterness.

"Obviously they're both going to be a little bit upset. I don't know what will happen in the future but, as far as I know, they're on a break and he's not seeing anyone else. We'll have to see what happens."
