John Simm admits destroying his pal David Tennant on screen in Doctor Who was "great fun".

He plays The Master in the Christmas special, which sees David's incarnation of the Time Lord "transmodify" into new actor Matt Smith.

John, currently appearing in the play Speaking In Tongues at the Duke Of Yorks Theatre, said: "The Master is absolutely insane. Although it is very sad that David is leaving, it was great fun to film."
