Johnny Depp sought to submit nude photos of Amber Heard as evidence at the former couple’s defamation trial, according to unsealed court documents.

More than 6,000 pages of pre-trial documents in the case were made public over the weekend showing potential evidence the two sides’ lawyers wanted to be considered by the jurors.

Ms Heard’s legal team asked the judge in the case to exclude a string of “irrelevant personal matters” from the trial.

They alleged that: “Mr Depp inappropriately seeks to introduce evidence of the following Irrelevant Personal Matters: (1) nude pictures of Amber Heard; (2) Amber Heard’s sister Whitney’s reality show video; (3) Whitney and Amber’s past romantic relationships; (4) Amber’s brief stint as an exotic dancer years before she met Mr Depp and Mr Depp attempting to frivolously and maliciously suggest or imply that Ms Heard was at one time an escort.”

A further filing from Heard’s legal team claimed her ex-husband suffered from erectile dysfunction that sparked an alleged sexual assault of Heard.

But Depp’s legal team responded: “Ms Heard wants a circus and clearly intends to take this trial down a number of unnecessarily salacious rabbit holes, including and especially with respect to Mr Depp’s medical history.” Depp denied the abuse allegations during the trial.

Depp won his multimillion-dollar US lawsuit against his ex-wife, inset, who he sued for libel over a 2018 article she wrote in the Washington Post, which his lawyers said implied he abused her while they were together.

A jury ruled that Depp was libelled even though the op-ed never mentioned his name. Heard won one count of her counter-suit. Depp and Heard are appealing over the judgments against them.
