Johnny Depp donates almost £670,000 to children’s hospitals
The 59-year-old actor gifted Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and the Footprint Coalition and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles the large sum through the sale of NFTs (non-fungible tokens).
NFTs, which are described as “a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency”, according to Forbes.
The recipients will share the proceeds, which Depp’s NFT community called Never Fear Truth, has split between them.
Never Fear Truth announced on Twitter that they had made the charitable donation on Wednesday.
Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation thanked the former actor’s NFT community for their generosity in a tweet on July 7.
They wrote: "Thank you so much for your generosity in helping support @PCHFWA and WA sick kids...
"These funds will make a significant impact in helping keep @PerthChildrens world-class for our children and families."
The donation comes a month after the highly-publicised six-week trial.
The former Pirates Of The Caribbean star sue his ex-wife Amber Heard, 36, for $50million over a 2018 opinion-piece she had written for the Washington Post that alleged she was a victim of domestic abuse.

The Aquaman actress countersued him for $100million, claiming that his lawyer Adam Waldman made defamatory statements by calling her claims a "hoax".
Depp won the suit and was awarded $15million — $10million in compensation and $5million in punitive damages.
Heard, meanwhile, won one of her three countersuit claims and was awarded $2million in compensatory damages.
Earlier this week, it was revealed Heard’s legal team has now filed a 43-page motion with the court in Virginia bidding to overturn the verdict.
