Johnny Depp has appeared as Captain Jack Sparrow in a special video message to fulfil the wish of a terminally ill 11-year-old boy.

Pirates of the Caribbean fan Kori from Derbyshire, has undergone two unsuccessful heart transplants and has decided he doesn’t want to face the ordeal of a third. He does not know how much longer he has left to live.

One of the youngster’s last wishes was to speak to his idol Captain Jack and thanks to the charity Make A Wish, it came true.

The clip of Depp dressed as the iconic character soon went viral after Kori shared it on his YouTube channel, Kraken the Box.

During the message, Oscar-winning actor Depp can be heard telling Kori: “I wish you the best of luck.

“I am your number one fan, Captain Kori.

“All the respect and love mate.”

The channel, which was only recently set up, has so far amassed over 170k followers, including Hollywood star and wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Kori’s mum Pixi told BBC News that the message from Depp was “amazing” and had lifted her son’s spirits at a devastating time for the family.

She explained to the news outlet that surgeons gave Kori, who was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a new heart in 2018 but the organ was rejected.

He underwent a second transplant in January last year, but that was also unsuccessful.

“[Kori] has always stated if he ever needed another transplant, it is something he would never go through again so the second they told me the news, I knew this was only ever going to go one way,” his mum said.

Adding: “There is no cure now.”
