Jolie to pick up her Aids orphan

Movie stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have flown to Ethiopia to pick up the five-month-old baby girl she is adopting.

The Lara Croft star, 30, arrived in the capital Addis Ababa with her adopted son from Cambodia, threeyearold Maddox.

The baby, whose name is Zahara, has tested negative for HIV although it is believed both her parents died of Aids.

Jolie and Pitt declined to speak about the adoption although twicedivorced Jolie has often spoken of her wish to adopt a second child.

Rumours have also been spreading about the extent of her on- off relationship with Pitt. Magazine pictures published this month show Jolie at her estate near Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, with Pitt riding on a scrambling motorcycle with Maddox.

Pitt, 41, separated from his wife Jennifer Aniston in January. Aniston filed for divorce two months later, citing irreconcilable differences between the them.

Pitt has denied Jolie is the reason for the split. Jolie has said she has never had sex with her Mr and Mrs Smith co-star.

The stars are adopting the child with the help of the Wide Horizons adoption agency in the capital.

Ethiopia, a country of 70million people, has more than five million orphans.

Aids has killed 900,000 people and is 'tearing apart the social fabric of the nation', the government says.

Other children have lost parents to war, famine and other diseases.

The number of private adoption agencies in the capital has doubled to 30 in the past year.
