Her curves have always been a source of pride for Kate Winslet.

When a magazine once digitally slimmed her down, she was furious.

But at the premiere of her latest film last night, the 29-year-old actress showed off a stunning size eight figure - in a full-length Ben de Lisi dress - that owed nothing to technical wizardry.

With the addition of a new shorter hairstyle, in fact, she was almost unrecognisable.

But Miss Winslet, who had her second child Joe 11 months ago, insisted she had not been dieting. 'I have not lost any weight,' she said at the Leicester Square premiere of Finding Neverland.

'I had a baby and now I'm back to normal. People always tell me I look like I have lost weight, but this is just me.'

Despite her protestations, the actress's yo-yoing weight has been well

documented. Her curves first achieved international fame in Titanic. When she became pregnant with her first child Mia, now four, she thought she looked like 'the back of a bus'.

But when she was digitally manipulated to look tall and skinny after a GQ magazine photo shoot she lashed out, saying she was proud of her figure.

Finding Neverland is based on Peter Pan author JM Barrie's fascination with Sylvia Llewelyn Davies, the character played by Miss Winslet, and her five sons.

The film has been well received by critics, with many saying Oscars are due to Miss Winslet, co- star Johnny Depp and 12 - year- old North London schoolboy Freddie Highmore.

Last night, Miss Winslet was joined by 41-year-old Depp, who plays Barrie. Her husband Sam Mendes was said to be working in America.
