Matthew Herbert's label arrives with a big band thump in West London tomorrow for a night entitled

For The Love Of... Accidental Records.

The night pulls together a brilliantly off-kilter, yet strangely wonderful group of musicians; their sound weasels through rubbery synths, bluesy guitars, lonely vocals, shuffling drumbeats and an outlandish selection of samples.

Icelandic singersongwriter Mugison will be performing his potent collection of quirky sweetness. Also live are Berlin and Hamburg-based trio 8 Doogymoto, whose twirl through Japanese and English lyrics, synthesised loops and electronic and acoustic guitars is a honeyed marvel. Joining them will be Dani Siciliano, Raf Rundell and Herbert himself. Accidental Records' first compilation is out this month as well. It features artists from the label itself, Soundslike, Lifelike and deleted tracks from labelsnolonger Lowlife and Life. A night not to be missed.

New York has always been a glamourpuss kind of city, oozing a sense of easy urban chic and moody cool. Recent clampdowns on its nightlife may have stripped away some of its bounce but, like anything with a fiery soul, instead of admitting defeat, a buzzing warehouse party scene has been rekindled and the Manhattan champagne-glitz clubs swarm with Dior-clad stars and wannabes. GBH

falls into the latter category. From a modest beginning in 1998 to a weekly residency at clubbing institutions Centro-Fly and Lotus, its all-American platter of house and hip hop has sprinkled cowboy glamour all over the Big Apple. They're hitting London tomorrow to launch GBH at Pacha, with all the regular DJs in tow - Carl Kennedy, Frank Delour, Mickey Richards and Mark Kay. So kick the plimsolls to the back of the cupboard and roadtest those spiky boots.

There are some musical mishaps that just refuse to go away. Cliff Richard, Westlife, Meatloaf and Scooter immediately spring to mind, but there's enough crammed in pop's treasure chest to fill a jukebox the size of Russia. Sigue Sigue Sputnik fall into the wasteland that wobbles between cringe and cool. Momentary fame in the 1980s, largely due to their oddball name and even odder chart-topper Love Missile F1-11, has left behind a baffling legacy, which has allowed frontman Tony James to dally in DJing while continuing to spread the Sputnik message across Europe and beyond. Tonight, shrieking synthcore night

Electrogogo provides him with the decks, with support from S'Express's Mark Moore and a live set from X-Lover vs Revolex. An interesting escape from the drudgery of the enforced Christmas-countdown cheer if nothing else.

Every so often, like fish and chips, it's comforting to go for the familiar. Soulbrew, rather than plumping for a broody rotation of meanstreet puffa-jacket rap, serve up an excellent brew of jiggy hip hop Nelly-style at Indelible this Saturday. Scratch Pervert Mr Thing, Brad 'Nextmen' Baloo, Kofi and Spin Doctor are the DJs in charge of keeping the peace, so all you have to do is practise your Sean Paul impression beforehand. Moreover, the added bonus of The Key's disco dancefloor can never be over-exaggerated.
