Big Jack tries to tempt a seagull - but he's already eaten all the quattro stagione.

He may have a formidable reputation as an insatiable womaniser, but these pictures show that even Jack Nicholson doesn't always get the gull...

In a bizarre display, the triple Oscar-winner tried to tempt a seabird on to his luxury speedboat last week using the leftovers of a takeaway pizza.

But the portly Hollywood A-lister clearly hadn't left enough of the snack behind to tempt the gull.

Nicholson, 70, stripped to the waist as he took in the sun off the coast of Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, in the South of France, leading to plenty of cruel comments about his expanding waistline.

But he was concerned about at least one aspect of his health, smearing on generous layers of sunscreen to protect himself from dangerous rays.

Pizza, however, seems an unusually mundane lunch for the high-living star of The Shining, Five Easy Pieces and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

Earlier this year he celebrated his birthday with 600 celebrity friends, 1,000 bottles of Cristal champagne and 70 scantily-clad waitresses.
