The stylist who created a signature look seized upon by the likes of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan has become the victim of a backlash.

The celebrities, along with Nicole Richie and Mischa Barton, became so addicted to the advice of Rachel Zoe that they were nicknamed the "Zoebots".

It was said that Paris and Nicole would not even go shopping without consulting Zoe on what they should wear.

But now Zoe has become a laughing stock after wicked whispers on the internet. Nicole, who has been pictured looking waif-like in Zoe's extra-skinny trousers and bug-like glasses, blamed the stylist for the controversial size-zero role models.

On her MySpace page Nicole wrote: "What 35-year-old raisin-face whispers her order of three pieces of asparagus for dinner at Chateau every night, and hides her deathly disorder by pointing the finger at me, and used her last paycheck I wrote her to pay for a publicist instead of a nutritionist? HINT: Her nickname is Lettucecup."

Lindsay Lohan, who also employed Zoe to dress her, posted a smiley face and added: "Hmmm... no comment."

Zoe can also be credited for preparing wardrobes for Keira Knightley, Kate Beckinsale and Cameron Diaz.

Her look concentrates on oversized accessories — large bags to make arms look frail, men's watches to make wrists appear twig-like and sunglasses which render the face almost shrunken.

The LA Times once claimed: "Fashion insiders have whispered privately that Zoe is single-handedly bringing back anorexia."

But it appears that her controversial association with skinniness may have proven to be her downfall.

Asked why she had fallen out with Zoe, Richie, whose weight has dropped to six stone in the last year, said she wanted to surround herself "with positive people and influences".

She replaced Zoe with stylist Cristina Ehrlich, who has dressed Jessica Biel and Penelope Cruz.

Zoe retaliated by issuing a statement: "After trying to be a good friend to Nicole, we made a mutual decision to sever our working relationship.

Changes are inevitable in any business relationship. I am fortunate to have a wonderful life; I have been married for 10 years and been a stylist for 15 years.

"And I am lucky to work with a diverse group of women, of all shapes and sizes, that inspire me every day.

"I have nothing but love for Nicole and wish her only health and happiness."
