LIVING PAINT

If you're not familiar with John Duncan Fergusson or the Scottish Colourists, this exhibition may strike you as quaintly parochial - full of the charm of the forgotten, but ultimately quite unimportant.

While the Scottish Colourists didn't create an art revolution when they were active during the Twenties and Thirties, they gloried in posthumous reassessment during the Eighties.

French trained, they were united by a fondness for bright colours and everyday subject matter, making their work very easy to like with its echoes of Impressionism and the Fauves.

Tues 11 Jan- Thurs 24 Mar, The Fleming Collection, 13 Berkeley Street, W1 (020-7409 5730).
