LORD MAYOR'S SHOW

This annual spectacle welcomes in the 677th Lord Mayor, Alderman Michael Savory, and promises to be a bigger celebration than last year, with a three-mile procession of floats, dancers and street entertainers.

Other highlights are 30 Rolls-Royces marking the car's centenary, crowd-stealing Battersea Dogs Home mutts, mighty battle tanks and jeeps carrying Chelsea pensioners in style.

The procession sets off from Mansion House at 10.55am - but arrive early to get a good position and catch the RAF flypast. From there the floats follow a route through the City, stopping at St Paul's at 12.10pm for the Lord Mayor's blessing and then on to the Royal Courts Of Justice for the oath of allegiance.

The procession is over by 2pm, but stick around for London's biggest annual firework display, launched from a barge on the Thames between Waterloo and Embankment at 5pm.
