Sir Mick Jagger celebrated his 80th birthday with family and famous friends at a Chelsea club on Wednesday night.

The Rolling Stones frontman celebrated the milestone birthday at the Cuban-inspired Embargo Republica alongside his daughters Georgia May, Elizabeth and Jade, his model ex-girlfriend Jerry Hall, his fiancée Melanie Hamrick and younger brother Chris.

His bandmate Ronnie Wood joined the celebrations while actor Leonardo DiCaprio, singer Lenny Kravitz and Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie also attended.

Others at the bash — held only a few miles from where the Rolling Stones played their first gig at the Marquee Club in Oxford Street in 1962 — included Marchioness of Bath Emma Weymouth and film director Baz Luhrmann.

Earlier Sir Mick, whose presents reportedly included a lifetime box at The Oval cricket ground, thanked fans for their well wishes. Sharing an image by photographer Mark Seliger of himself smiling in a burgundy suit, he wrote: “Thanks so much for all your lovely comments and birthday wishes!!”

Singer Sean Lennon took to the comments section to post hand clapping emojis while Primal Scream shared some lightning bolts.

Keith Richards played a piano tune for him in a video and said: “Hey Mick, I guess long may we keep saying this to each other. Happy birthday, Mick. Have another good one.”

And making a joke of the fact that at 79 he is slightly younger than Sir Mick, he jibed: “And... give me a call, let me know what it’s like.”

Wood shared a timeline of photographs of Sir Mick, captioning the Instagram post: “Happy 80th birthday to @mickjagger!”

The official Rolling Stones Twitter account told the frontman to “keep on rockin” as it shared a two-minute-long video of his best moments.
