The mystery female lover of Sex And The City star Cynthia Nixon has been revealed.

Christine Marinoni is a New York education activist and once owned a lesbian cafè in Brooklyn.

Ms Nixon, 38 - who played lawyer Miranda - fell for Ms Marinoni while they were both campaigning for schools. The couple have appeared together at meetings of the Alliance for Quality Education, of which Ms Marinoni is the New York director.

Ms Nixon began her relationship in January soon after splitting with lover Danny Mozes, with whom she had two children.
