Michael Jackson's aides were thrown into panic in the days before Martin Bashir's infamous documentary was shown, his child molestation trail heard yesterday.

There was a scramble to produce a response to the film, in which the pop singer admitted that he shared his bed with children.

Rudy Provencio, who worked with Jackson on a charity record, told the court in Santa Maria, California: 'The phones went ballistic at Neverland before the documentary was even screened. The press was calling day and night.'

Jackson denies false imprisonment, child abduction and child molestation.
