Sir Michael Parkinson has launched an attack on Jade Goody, calling her "ignorant and puerile".

Attack: Parkinson spoke out against Goody, right with husband Tweed

In the Radio Times, the veteran TV host wrote that Goody, 27, who died of cancer, was not a "martyr" but a poor role model exploited by the media. "Jade Goody has her place in the history of television and, while it's significant, it's nothing to be proud of.

"Her death is as sad as the death of any young person, but it's not the passing of a martyr or a saint, or Princess Di. She was brought up on a sink estate, as a child came to know drugs and crime, was barely educated, ignorant and puerile." Max Clifford, Goody's publicist and friend, said he was "surprised and disappointed" by the comments.

Meanwhile, Goody's husband Jack Tweed, 21, has said he wants to be buried next to her in north London when he dies.
