PICK OF THE NIGHT

Diaghilev Mixed Bill

7.30pm, Royal Opera House, 45 Floral Street, WC2. £4-£66. Tube: Covent Garden

Russian ballet impresario Sergei Diaghilev set up the Ballets Russes in France in 1909, and presided over one of the most extraordinary artistic flourishes of the 20th century, uniting the music of Stravinsky and Ravel, the artistic design of Picasso and Matisse and dancing talents of Vaslav Nijinsky and Anna Pavlova. To mark the 75th anniversary of his death, the Royal Ballet pays tribute, with Mikhail Fokine's erotically charged Le Spectre de la Rose, the Grecian Daphnis and Chloë (left), and Nijinsky's radical L'Après-midi d'un faune and the Stravinsky-scored Les Noces.
