His love life may be on the up, but Match of the Day host Gary Lineker still can't seem to shake off his famous 'jug-eared' image.

The 47-year-old former footballer may already ban ambassador for Walkers crisps, but now a hungry worker has stumbled upon a crisp that bears a stunning resemblance to the man himself.

The potato chip, in the same shape as a silhouette of Lineker, was found in a packet of crisps by Beth Brenner.

Walkers have described the find as "very special".

A Walkers spokesman said:'We have had all sorts of shapes of crisps over the years but one shaped like our brand ambassador, Gary Lineker is very special indeed, particularly since it was found in his home town of Leicester.'

Ms Brenner, 23, now refuses to eat the keepsake snack and is keeping it in her drawer.

Beth said she found it when tucking into the packet of plain crisps one lunchtime and a friend pointed out the likeness.

Ms Brenner, who works at a telephone answering company, said: 'I didn't know what to do with it - You can't eat Gary Lineker can you? He's a legend.

'I've kept it in my drawer at work and obviously it's now officially been named Gary. We all love him.

'Maybe we can frame the crisp and put it in the city centre.'

A spokesman for the real Gary Lineker said the freak snack's appearance was a "fantastic coincidence" given the amount of time he had been the face of Walkers Crisps.

He said: 'Gary is becoming more and more identified with the product. He is in the middle of a new advertising campaign for Walkers right now but this definitely isn't a part of it.'

Fortunately for 47-year-old Lineker, bearing an unfortunate resemblance to a crisp hasn't affected the ex-footballer's relationship skills.

His current squeeze, former air stewardess Danielle Bux, who is the face of La Senza lingerie, moved in with the BBC sports commentator in July.

They share a home together in Ely, Cambridgeshire but have said they have no immediate plans to marry.
