Footage Robbie Williams singing along to a new self-penned song has been posted on video-sharing website Youtube.

But the former pop pin-up's new effort is likely to alienate many of his fans however, as swear words and references to Jesus litter the song.

Robbie begins the video by introducing what he describes as "A new song, called Bodies," before asking "have you got a cig Dad?" He then sings along to the new track as he puffs away on his cigarette.

It's a world away from the syrupy love songs like Angels and She's The One that made Robbie such a household name.

The lyrics address religious themes, with lines such as: "God showed me the sunshine ... Jesus really died for me, Jesus really tried for me." The singer also swears in the song, distancing himself further from the family-friendly entertainer he once was.
