The 60-year-old star of iconic films Rocky and Rambo: First Blood, looked a shadow of his former hunky self, as he spent time shopping in London's Sloane Street.

With lank, greasy hair streaked with grey and heavily wrinkled, and leathery looking skin, Stallone, who last year revived his famous character Rocky Balboa for a new movie, looks like a man ageing badly.

Maybe it's the stress of the drugs charge he's facing in Australia that's taking it's toll.

It is alleged he imported 48 vials of an illegal human growth hormone into Sydney earlier this year. Stallone denies the charge and has offered medical evidence in support of his case.

Australian newspaper the Daily Telegraph reports that because of the charges, an upset Stallone has banned the Australian media from the launch of the Rocky Balboa DVD.

A publicist from 20th Century Fox, the company behind the DVD release of Rocky Balboa, said Australian journalists - who were confirmed six weeks ago to attend the event with press from around the world - were no longer welcome.

"I've just received word that unfortunately we will not be sending any Australian media to attend the Stallone junket due to his impending court case," she said.

Later this year the star returns in a new Rambo movie. But even he accepts that some things are beyond his sexagenerian body.

In a move signalling the end of an era, the action star has employed a 30-year old stunt double for the new film about troubled Vietnam war veteran and guerilla warfare expert, John Rambo, set for release in 2008.
