Strictly Come Dancing's Russell Grant is to carry on with the BBC1 show despite fears he may have been forced to pull out with a knee injury.

The roly-poly astrologer needs surgery on the joint which would have affected his continued presence on the ballroom show.

But he has now been told that he will be able to wait until he is given the push from the series.

Grant, who began his dance at the weekend astride a bucking bronco before performing his paso doble, has spoken of the pain from the "twinge" in his knee. However he has previously vowed "the show must go on".

A spokeswoman for the show said today: "Russell has decided he wants to postpone his procedure until Strictly has finished."
