Pop star Seal is facing a £1million bill after his former manager successfully sued him for breach of contract.

The singer, who is married to German model Heidi Klum, will now have to pay backdated-commission after the High Court ruling.

Seal, 43, real name Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel, contested the case brought by John Wadlow.

Seal told the court after they ended their relationship in 1995, he realised he was committed to a contract giving Mr Wadlow payments for the rest of his life.

Today Mr Justice Gray gave judgment in favour of Mr Wadlow. He ordered Seal to pay an interim £500,000 with the exact amount owed, thought to be up to £1 million, to be calculated later.

He said: "I direct that an account be taken of the commission to which Mr Wadlow is entitled in accordance with this judgment."

During a recent hearing the judge heard that Mr Wadlow's "primary claim" was that he was "entitled to unpaid commission on Seal's earnings from his first two albums", in accordance with an agreement dated March 31 1995.

The judge was only asked to deal with the question of liability during the trial, not to assess the sum owed.

Seal who announced yesterday that he is expecting a second child with Klum, denied liability. He was not present in court for the decision.
