Susan Boyle sang Perfect Day at the lighting of the Christmas tree in New York's Rockefeller Centre.

Thousands heard her and Kylie Minogue, as Mayor Michael Bloomberg turned on 30,000 energy-efficient bulbs.

Mariah Carey kicked off the show singing Oh Santa and Jessica Simpson gave a rendition of I'll Be Home For Christmas.

More than 50,000 people watched the event live in NYC.
