Shiver yer timbers - the pirates are back and they're after you! Returning to the famous treasure island aka The Isle of Sheppey - the fearsome Captain Cutlass and his scurvy crew of the Salty Sea Pig are holding the World Walking The Plank championships.

Do you fancy taking a dip? Plankers are marked out of 10 in four categories: use of piraticallanguage; execution of jump including height of "after-splash"; originalityof costume and overall ?star' quality.

Last year's winner, the "Right Horrible" Lord Swale is returning to defend his title and attempt to grab this year's £100 prize money. Last year he wowed the crowd by arriving, James Bond-style, in dinner jacket and bow tie aboard his own private launch.

Organisers are expecting a tough contest as former champion Heini ?The MadDane' Nielsen has also vowed to return to try to regain the title he lostlast year. He had held it for the previous two years.

Sunday, Queenborough Harbour at 2pm, To join the team of World Class Plankers ring 01795 875985, plankers must be over 18, able to swim and pay £5 for the ?privilege'. All proceeds go to charity.
