Taylor Lautner proved that he is a man of his word by praying for John Mayer ahead of the re-release of Taylor Swift’s Speak Now album.

Lautner’s wife, who is confusingly also called Taylor, shared the clip on her TikTok account using the hashtag “pray for John”.

She then drew further attention to it in her Instagram story with a link captioned: “Tap here to pray for John”.

In the video, which is set to Swift’s song Dear John, the Twilight actor, 31, can be seen getting down on his knees in a white dressing gown as he puts his hands together in prayer for Mayer, who is believed to have inspired the almost seven-minute ballad.

To bring the joke home, he then unfolds his hands and raises them upward to the sky.

The moves comes after his appearance on the Today show on Tuesday where was asked how he is feeling in anticipation of Swift’s rerecorded third album, which will be unleashed on the world on July 7,

The Cheaper By The Dozen 2 star didn’t seem too worried about featuring in any new songs, but admitted his concern for musician Mayer.

Lautner, who dated Swift briefly in 2009, is believed to have inspired track Back to December, which is tame compared to Swift’s songs that reference context clues to John Mayer.

She and Mayer were an item from 2009 until 2010 when he was 32 and she was just 19 and she has made frequent reference to this age in her music.

“I think it’s a great album. Yeah, I feel safe,” Lautner said.

Adding: “Praying for John.”

Swift’s new record is set to feature six previously unheard songs which she originally wrote for her various albums, but that didn’t make the final cut.

It remains to be seen which of her exes the songs will take aim at.
