Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have reportedly split after less than three months together.

Sources said the US popstar initiated the break-up after she apparently felt uncomfortable with the Brit actor’s desire to make their relationship public.

Swift began dating the Night Manager star in June, two weeks after she broke up with DJ Calvin Harris.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: “She was the one to put the brakes on the relationship.

"Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with. Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection but Tom didn't listen to her concerns when she brought them up."

The source added Hiddleston is "embarrassed that the relationship fizzled out”.

A separate source told People magazine, "It was an amicable split."

The split comes swiftly following reports Hiddleston wanted the couple to make their red carpet debut at the forthcoming Emmy Awards.

But Swift was said to be less keen on the appearance, preferring instead to attend high-profile events on her own.

The relationship is understood to have become strained by distance with Hiddleston filming Thor in Australia while Swift is back in LA.
