The X Festival is a brilliant fresh new hip-hop, breaks and funk extravaganza that will be hurtling into the Elephant & Castle once a month with some of the top names in those fields. For those who have not been down to the venue, the Coronet has just received a total refurbishment and houses one of the biggest soundsystems in London.

Kicking it all off on Saturday night are the ace Scratch Perverts, who'll be mixing it up on six decks, New York urban crooner Mark Ronson who's just had a hit with 'Ooh Wee', is flying in for the night, plus live performances from DJ Vadim & Russian Percussion, plus incredible human beatbox Killa Kela.

There's also rapper Ty (check out his new album Upwards) and the Nextmen.

The idea of the night is to create an environment where major bands and up-and-coming acts can play on the big stage to 2,000 people, and hopefully the likes of the Pistachios alongside the Audio Bullys and D'Nell with the Herbaliser will be appearing in the near future. All in all, a great new event that is well overdue, Saturday's party is definitely not to be missed. See you on the dancefloor.
