The nuns of Call The Midwife have come up against their biggest challenge to-date while filming the latest series of the show - Tom Cruise and his noisy helicopter.

The Hollywood superstar, 60, has been filming for the latest instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise at the same place as the period medical drama at Longcross Studios in Surrey.

Sharing a working space has proved tricky however as Cruise has reportedly been travelling to set in a private helicoptor and causing such a racket that scenes for Call The Midwife have had to be reshot.

Actress Jenny Agutter, who is reprising her long-running role as Sister Julienne in the twelfth series of the popular show explained: “Tom Cruise keeps on ruining our filming by landing his helicopter right outside where we’re shooting.”

Asked whether she had personally gone over to give the three-time Oscar winner a telling off, Agutter joked to the Mirror: “In my habit! Imagine!

″‘Excuse me Tom, but look we’re trying to film. I don’t know about you, but just get your helicopter out of here quickly’!”

Cruise is set to return as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, which is scheduled to hit cinemas next year after being hit with a number of delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile season 12 of Call The Midwife will begin with the Christmas special on December 25 and continue in January 2023.
