An eye cream advert featuring Twiggy has been called misleading because the photograph was airbrushed.

Digital beauty: Twiggy's photo had been retouched

The 60-year-old model claims the Olay Definity product is her "secret to brighter-looking eyes" in the ad.

When it emerged the image has been "digitally re-touched" more than 700 people complained.

Real: Twiggy without the airbrushed look

The Advertising Standards Authority has ruled the advert misleading but not socially irresponsible.

Procter and Gamble Ltd, who make the product, said Twiggy was a "beautiful woman" but admitted adding some "minor retouching" around Twiggy's eyes.

The company told the ASA the alterations were "inconsistent" with its policies and the image had been replaced with one that had no "post-production" work in the eye area.

P&G denied the advert could have negative perceptions on people's body image and rejected claims it was "socially irresponsible".

The ASA said no further action was required because advert had already been withdrawn.
