Uma Thurman takes a break from the fun as the Cannes film festival jury relax at a pre-party for today's opening.

She was joined by Oscar winner Robert De Niro, president of the jury, and Jude Law, along with other members at the Martinez Hotel.

Dustin Hoffman was also among the stars arriving at Cannes for the 64th festival, which will see 20 films up for the coveted Palme d'Or.

The British hopeful for the top prize is an adaptation of Lionel Shriver's Orange prize-winning novel We Need To Talk About Kevin, starring Tilda Swinton and John C Reilly. It is about a boy who goes on a killing spree and is directed by Lynne Ramsay.
