Lady Gaga has been out and about in New York and LA promoting her new Applause video looking sleek and sexy in a succession of different outfits. Gone is the sorry-my-hand-slipped vampire make-up (phew) and in come some great white trousers teamed with shades and a mohair top, purple mini-skirt, big gold hoop earrings and a great little black dress with a difference.

Meanwhile, the singer took to Twitter to urge her fans to leave celebrity blogger Perez Hilton alone after they reacted over-viciously to her previous post claiming he had been "harassing her". She had been told that Hilton was being shown round an apartment in her New York building and reacted furiously to the news - prompting her fans to issue death threats to Hilton and his baby son.

"Sending threats of any kind, using hateful or abusive language, and the provoking of others on the internet is not supported by me or anything that I stand for," she wrote. "I know how angry you feel sometimes, and I know that when they say things about me you feel that they are saying them about you as well. But music is about love, and is about sharing in the magic of theater. Although pop culture and society have become more negative and critical of the artist over the years, by engaging in this negativity you are allowing it to spread."

Perez - whose son Mario Armando Lavandeira III is six months old - previously hit back at the 27-year-old singer by posting a 352-word blog post called "A Statement On Lady GaGa's Lies", in which he denied stalking her and insisted he wasn't aware she lived in the same apartment block.

"Any allegation that I am stalking her, based on a day of house hunting with my baby boy and my mother, is utterly false, defamatory and now appears to be putting me and my family in danger," he wrote.
