Gunmen have attempted to kidnap Welsh movie star Catherine Zeta-Jones while she was returning from a movie shoot in Mexico.

The screen beauty was reportedly left shaken after a gang attempted to ambush her limousine and drive it off the road as she returned from a day's filming on her new movie Legend of Zorro.

According to reports, the Oscar-winning actress was saved by quick-thinking bodyguards, who rammed the bandits' vehicle from a separate car.

Security staff then pursued the failed kidnappers in San Luis Potosi. Four men have now been arrested over the attack.
