Abbott steps up his recovery

England's midfield options have been increased with the return to action of Stuart Abbott, the London Wasps centre.

Abbott played in the Wasps A game against Bath last night to signal his recovery from shoulder reconstruction surgery. He was injured playing for England against New Zealand in June.

Abbott said: "It's been a long and frustrating wait having to sit on the sidelines waiting for my shoulder to heal.

"However, the Wasps medical team have worked wonders and I'm ready to play again. It's never easy coming back from a long lay-off and it will take a few games to return to full fitness."
