Adebola told to say calm

13 April 2012

Crystal Palace manager Trevor Francis urged striker Dele Adebola to relax if he wants to be a hit at Selhurst Park.

Adebola only signed for the club last week and is yet to reach full fitness but he gave a nervous display in the 3-2 defeat to Portsmouth.

Francis said: "I think he was trying too hard to impress. He was uptight and it's difficult to perform when you're tense.

"He gives us another option without Ade Akinbiyi because we need a physical presence. But I expect he will settle in quickly."

Palace will be without Akinbiyi until November with a knee injury and Adebola was brought in as cover.
