Agar: We need to improve

Hull coach Richard Agar has promised a change in his side's make-up and attitude when they run out in the 210th derby with Hull KR tonight.

The fourth-placed Black and Whites missed the chance to move three points clear of Leeds last Saturday as they produced one of their most abject performances of the season in losing to Wakefield. Hull remain in the top four, though, and can resume their hunt for a top-three berth if they can do the double over their arch-rivals for the first time in the Super League era.

"We have mulled over a couple of things this week," he said. "In our last game and a half, what we have done with the ball has not been up to scratch and we are looking to try and change a few things in that respect. As you would expect we are not going to give the make-up of the side until kick-off, but it is fair to say that we are going to mix it up a little bit from Wakefield last week."

He added: "We had no intensity last weekend and that didn't enable us to move on earlier in the week as well as we would have liked from a training perspective as there were things we wanted to address from that game.

"But having said all that it may not be a bad thing because having a full house and the opposition we have helps raise the intensity."

Prop Sam Moa is definitely on course to return to Agar's side after a calf injury, while former England winger Mark Calderwood is set to make just a fourth appearance of the season after hamstring trouble.

Rovers have welcomed winger Liam Colbon back into their squad after a 14-game absence and, with the former Wigan man heavily linked with replacing Rovers-bound Craig Hall at the KC Stadium next season, an interesting sub-plot is likely to unfold.
