Ainslie wants America's Cup

Ben Ainslie, the double gold medal winning Olympic sailor, has revealed his ultimate sailing goal stating: "I want to win the America's Cup for Britain."

In a bid to put himself in a position to mastermind a successful challenge, Ainslie, considered by his British team-mates as the ultimate sailor, will join forces with Team New Zealand in the 2007 America's Cup challenge.

Britain will have another top sailor, Iain Percy helping the Italian challenge, and these two gold medallists, Percy won gold in the Finn class in Sydney, will spearhead a future challenge.

Ainslie, who won the Finn gold in Athens, said: "You are looking at a budget between £50-£100million to launch a challenge and there has been talk of a British one. It is a dream and a goal of mine."
