Brazilian Alexandre Pato finally made his Chelsea debut in Saturday's Premier League game against Aston Villa and marked the occasion with a goal from the penalty spot.

The 26-year-old forward moved to London from Brazilian club Corinthians in January on loan but had to wait three months to kick a ball in a competitive fixture.

He came on in the 22nd minute after Loic Remy was forced off through injury and went on to win a penalty in first-half injury time, before dispatching the resulting spot-kick.

The former AC Milan striker was previously overlooked in favour of Diego Costa, Loic Remy and young forward Bertrand Traore as he endured three months on the bench.

The striker’s lack of game time was lampooned by a website titled 'Has Alexandre Pato Played For Chelsea?' which counted the minutes since Pato’s seemingly ill-fated signing.

When Pato made his competitive appearance the website was immediately updated.
