Andy Murray is confident of continuing his outstanding start to the year by reaching his first clay court quarter-final providing he can beat his injury jinx at the Monte Carlo Masters.

The British No1 will face either 14th seed Marin Cilic, of Croatia, or Italy's Fabio Fognini in the third round tomorrow.

In 2006, Murray lost in the first round at Monte Carlo after suffering cramp, while the following year he injured his back in the doubles.

Murray said: "I enjoy playing on clay although I have had some injury problems in the past and my aim is to get through this part of the year without any more injuries. I just want to stay fit on this surface."
