Ardila's capital gain helps him clinch Tour of Britain

Mauricio Ardila clinched victory in the five-day Tour of Britain cycling race, which ended yesterday.

The 25-year-old Colombian finished in the main pack on the last stage in the centre of London to win the race by 12 seconds from New Zealand's Julian Dean.

Nick Nuyens, of Belgium, was third, a further five seconds behind.

Roger Hammond was the best British rider in 12th place, 33 seconds behind Ardila.

Italy's Enrico Degano won the final circuit stage around Whitehall and the Thames Embankment.
