Arsenal’s inability to see games out is a “nightmare”, according to ex-Gunner Ray Parlour.

Arsene Wenger’s side threw away victory against Liverpool on Sunday, conceding a 97th minute equaliser to draw 2-2 at Anfield.

It is the sixth time this season Arsenal have squandered a winning position – a weakness which Parlour believes has been apparent for a long time.

“It’s a problem,” Parlour told Sportlobster. “The team dropped off a lot deeper against Liverpool and it makes it very frustrating to concede late.

“We got ourselves into a good position away from home. Defensively, Arsenal have been like this for the last few seasons.

“At the moment, it’s been a nightmare as the team can’t see a game out.”

He added: “I think the players just automatically drop off as pressure builds. They should have moved up 10 yards and squeezed it.

“Arsenal left too many gaps. I think we need more leaders at the back.”
