Ashton shines for England

Wimbledon's Lionel Morgan scored the opening goal after eight minutes as England Under-19s beat Germany 3-1 at Portman Road last night.

Ipswich's Darren Bent grabbed two goals on his home ground but it was Crewe's Dean Ashton who impressed most, creating Morgan's goal and then setting up Bent to open his account on the stroke of half-time.

Marcel Schied headed Germany back into the game after the break but Bent wrapped up the game when he flicked in Michael Chopra's 72nd-minute cross.
