Asia storms home at Lexus Cup

12 April 2012

Team Asia avenged their heavy defeat in last year's inaugural Lexus Cup, securing a narrow 12.5-11.5 victory against Team International in stormy conditions in Singapore on Sunday.

In a tense finish, LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year Seon Hwa Lee parred the 17th to complete a 2&1 win against Paraguayan Julieta Granada, securing the vital point that the Asians needed on a wet and gloomy day at Tanah Merah Country Club's Garden Course which was twice interrupted by weather delays.

Jee Young Lee, Young Kim, Hee-Won Han, Sakura Yokomine also claimed wins as the Asians won five of 12 singles matches to gain revenge for their 16-8 loss in 2005. Annika Sorenstam, Stacy Prammanasudh, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, Sherri Steinhauer and Brittany Lincicome scored wins for the International team, while the match between Meena Lee and Angela Stanford was halved.
